When I was 8, I was given a toy sewing machine. It didn’t work very well but I loved it! I was always drawing and my mum helped me to make my doll’s dresses from scraps. As a teenager I was always sketching out ideas. My dream was to have a shop full of my own designs. In 1988 my dream came true and my ‘Carolyn Keyes’ boutique opened it’s doors for the first time.

I completed a Foundation course at Worthing Art College (a revelation and hot-bed of creativity) where I spent most of my time in the Fashion Department. Inspired, I continued my training and went on to achieve a B.A. (Hons) in Dress Design at London’s St Martin’s School of Art.

Now, with over 30 years of experience, I continue to enjoy designing, cutting and creating unique, bespoke wedding dresses for a lovely mix of brides; all ages, shapes and sizes. I design dresses for weddings on Caribbean beaches, in castles, gardens and period houses as well as in the more traditional church and marquee.

It’s endlessly interesting work, no two brides are the same, and I love turning a vague idea into a beautiful, perfectly fitted dress that reflects each bride’s personality. Fashion trends certainly change but great design goes on forever!

I look forward to creating your perfect dress. Please visit my South Coast based bijou, stylish and cosy Carolyn Keyes boutique, where you will receive a warm welcome: 3 High Street, Worthing, West Sussex BN11 1NZ. To make an appointment please call me on 01903 214990 or email
